Welcome to the Central Division Alpine Skills Development Website. This is a forum for our ASDW event information and to share resources, tools, and tips to help you with Alpine Skills Development.  The 2021 theme for the ASDW is Training Tomorrow’s Leaders .  Because we did not host any events last season,  instructors, Senior Evaluators, and IT’s got a pass and will recertify during the 2021/2022 season.   Our theme this year is emphasizing the need to develop succession plans and bringing new trainers, evaluators and instructors on board.  We hope to see many new faces at this year’s ASDW.

We will hold 4 events this year throughout our Division.  Hopefully, this will allow each Region to send more participants.  The locations this season are:  Northern Michigan (groups split between Boyne Highlands and Nubs Nob) and  Granite Peak on December 3-5, 2021.  Cascade Mountain on Dec. 10-12, 2021.  If needed, we will also do a mini session in the Ohio Region in early January 2022.

We will offer 7 sessions for participants to attend.  Each Region will decide who they will send to the ASDW.  If you feel you should attend, please contact your RD or program advisor.  The sessions are:  1.  Senior Alpine Evaluator Certification or Recert.  2.  Snowsports Trainers Workshop.  3.  PSIA/AASI Workshop for NSP Trainers.  4.  Senior Toboggan Evaluator Certification or Recert.  5.  Toboggan Trainers IT Certification.  6.  Hybrid Version Senior Toboggan Evaluator and IT Recert.  7.  Toboggan Trainers Prep Clinic.

The Skills Development Team has developed a reference card on skiing and toboggan essentials, including the five or six fundamentals.  The 2021 card is now posted – Download a print copy here or from the Alpine area of the website.  Skills Summary Card

We use the Assessment form to provide a written take-away document to each participants that confirms their participation, and certifications, and provides specific performance feedback for later reference.  A copy of the form is available here for download to use for other events if desired:  Assessment Form (pdf form).

What is good skiing?  PSIA has developed Five Fundamentals of good skiing – review highlights in Robin Barnes video from Interski 2015.

This website is intended to provide you with a consolidated point of reference for the many resources available for SnowSports Skills Development for Central Division trainers.  Be sure to also refer to the NSP Central Division Website for overall guidance and program information.  This site is a supplement, not replacement for the CD and national websites .
